Antique Victorian Albert Chain 9ct Gold Circa 1890
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN ALBERT CHAIN 9CT GOLD CIRCA 1890. An exquisite antique late Victorian Albert chain made up of long, paper clip links connected by knots of rope. Each link is crafted in a rosy 9ct gold and leads to a T-bar at the bottom complete with hallmarks. Albert chains were named after Prince Albert and were used by wealthy Victorian gentlemen to secure a pocket watch by attaching it via the T-bar to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. Today though, they have taken on a new function and commonly worn as a womens statement necklace. Its a wonderful piece with a good weight to it and is held securely by two trigger clasps. WEIGHT: 28.9 grams. MEASURES: Length 17.5 inches x Width 5mm T- Bar Drop 20mm x Length 35mm x Width 2.5mm. METAL: 9ct Gold (Stamped). (Circa 1880 – 1900).
